Renowned artist late. Shri. Vijay sindhur ‘s birthday celebration -a meaningful event
Yesterday(7-6-2025) a veteran artist of karnataka, varnashilpi venkatappa awardee shri vijay sindhur ‘s 85th birth anniversary has been jointly organised by canvas art foundation vijaypur headed by shri. Ramesh chavhan, vijay sindhur art gallery jamkhandi and karnataka lalit kala academy b’luru at vijay sindhur art gallery jamkhandi with great respect and love. Vijay sindhur art gallery was house full with the gathering of the artists and art lovers and the fans of vijay sindhur.
On this auspicious ocassion art camp and vijay sindhur award giving ceremony were organised in vijay sindhur art gallery jamkhandi.
In the morning, an art camp was inaugurated by shri. Pa. Pu. Ananda devaru peerhaadhipati of olemath jamkhandi. Shri. Ananda devaru swamiji inaugurated this camp by writing oom kaar on canvas. After words shri. Babu jattakar retd. Principal fine arts college c. K. P b’luru and senior artist jamkhandi -chief guest op this program played with colours on inaugural canvas. Vijay sindhur’s child hood mate and senior lawyer shri. T. P. Baangi, vijay sindhur’s son in law shri basavaraj were also present on the stage as guests.
Vijay sindhur award giving ceremony was held at the evening. Shri. D. Mahendra director l g n c b’luru, shri. Vishwanath bilgi art lover and art collector vijaypur, shri. P. S. Kademani a senior artist vijaypur, shri. Chandrakant sarode member k l k a, smt. Mahaananda vijay sindhur have given away the prestigious ‘vijay sindhur memory award’to shri. Nandabasappa vade -senior artist vijaypur. Shri. P. S. Kademani, shri mahendra. D, shri chandrakant sarode talked on the ever charming personality and dedicated workmanship of late. Shri vijay sindhur. These dignitaries urged artist’s family to make up mind to creating trust and build a good gallery on this legendary artist.

Vishwanath guggari, shri. Sanganna patil, shri. Shrishail dhotre, shri. Raju vijay sindhur,shri. Somashekhar vijay sindhur, swapnil sindhur, and other members of artist’s family were present in this program.
The artists participated in this one day art camp were -shri. G. V. Hampannavar (jamkhandi), shri b. S. Patil(vijaypur), shri. Prabhakar mankal(raichur ), shri. H. M. Vishwanath(jamkhandi ), shri. Shivu hugar(bilagi), shri. Gangadhar mayachari(vijaypur), shri. Sushil tarabar(belagavi ), shri. K. S. Basavaraj (tumkur ), shri. Prashanth managuli(vijaypur ), shri. Santosh guddodagi (jamkhandi ).
Though, it is a day camp, the artists partcipated there have shown their talent successfully and won admiration of the audience. The total event has been well conducted by shri. Ramesh chavhan, who played vital role in organising this meaning ful event. Introduction about late. Shri. Vijay sindhur: he was born in jamkhandi in 7-6-1940. He learnt painting in j j school of art Mumbai. He was a pupil of veteran portrait paint shri palsikar. After art education, vijay sindhur returned to jamkhandi and continued his carrier as a free lance artist. Though, he stayed in a small taluk place like jamkhandi, his master paintings have won the attention of art collectors, industrialists, dignitaries all over india and abroad. The famous visual artists from all overe india visited vijay sindhur ‘s house and liked his paintings. He was a great portrait artist of his time. His method of handling colours was awesome indeed!. His paintings were on folk arts and folk culture around his native place. He had strong hold on both realistic and abstract paintings. He had mastery on oil colour handling.
‘Do hard work. Experience at first and then paint /draw. Keep up disciline in your life. Being an artist always breath art” is his message to the younger artists. He was an awardee of karnataka lalitkala academy, d. V. Halbhavi award, karnataka rajyotsava and prestigious varnashilpi venkatappa award. He was died in 28-9–2024. It was heartfelt moment and an ocassion of remembering vijay sindhur’s great art journey.
