We don’t end at our edges @ MAP – Ravikumar Kashi
MAP – Museum of Art & Photography is a celebration of finesse and evolution of trends in art display and a certain vibe that is nouveau Smithsonian meeting modernity of a biennale in flight. Add to that the pizzaz of eminent printmaker and educator/ artist with a MS Baroda pedigree in the mix ‘ Ravikumar Kashi – the show ” We don’t end at our edges ” is a triumphant traipse of multiple ruses and threads paper pulp cavorting between eschewed genres of drawing, painting & sculpture.

What is fascinating about the display in languid details of alphabets as a universe in flight and the play of shadows in light. The interpretation of perspectives is open and fertile parables take wing with viewers and art pilgrims to view the installation as a metric of materiality and the porosity of it all.
Here is a process that is far removed from conventional art on canvasses in the wall to the imaginable extreme of intertwined vocabulary between vernacular heft of the kannada alphabet making a smorgasbord statement and experimental nuance of delicate and fragility in repose.

The detailed process as endearingly told by Ravikumar Kashi in itself takes pride and patience of understanding the lucidity of progress with pulp and paper, an ingredient that takes on multiple avatars where the artist continues and unsure of the final assemblage. This nurture of mystique and discovery of change as it evolves has been Ravikumar Kashi’s nous and metier for the art over 20 years.
Brusque and assured, yet trepidation unbecoming, he explains the challenges in pursuing the passion he has for the medium as a form of aesthetic release and evocative cruise. Each and very process takes forward the sail and soak territory to find the final bend as displayed at the show .

MAP – my first visit to the gallery is a stupendous affair with neatly appointed display places, where play of light enhances the viewer experience and installations bring the understated wow with appropriate plumage. Bengaluru – certainly a first amongst art spaces in Bengaluru. More on it when I do all the 4 floors of the spaces in some time. Ravikumar Kashi – a brilliant proponent and consummate maestro of his pursuits has surreal moments embracing thru ” We don’t end at *our edges “.
